Well, here's the thing. We lived in Vancouver for 5 years (6
for David). Everyone wanted to come visit us in Vancouver, but
it's sooo expensive to get there. Now we're in Halifax. It's much
closer, cheaper to get here and we were only going to be here
for sure for one summer. This turned out to be quite a combination
which resulted in us having 29 visitors starting in May '97! OK,
to be honest, only 24 of our visitors stayed at our place. Dr. Noah Levine started things off and was lucky enough to stumble upon a conference in the city so he could expense his vacation! Noah's trip was highlighted by some fierce 9-5-2 games, which is one of our favourite card games. Attending the same conference was Dr. Shireen Mansouri - all the way from Yellowknife, NWT. Cousin Barbie showed up next to visit her friend Harriett - and us too, of course. Her visit overlapped with the Greenblat clan - Pearl, Yorum, Ariel, Leeor (still in the womb!), Yorum's sister Judit and Sheba. The Greenblats were on an eastern driving vacation and Sheba came along because she was moving in with us. Sheba's about 9 years old and was pretty jealous of Ariel. We figured that adding Leeor to the mix would be too much for her to handle. So everyone was happy - Pearl knew that Sheba would be in good hands and David finally got a dog after wanting one for years. |

| So Barbie and the Greenblats made their way home and we had a week to rest up for the arrival of our gang - and boy, did we ever need to rest up! Ken, Nancy, Sheila, Mike, Melo and Jackie decided to drive out. They made it all the way to Brockville (ironically!) before having a major breakdown. The rest |

| of their trip was rather uneventful, except for the cars becoming
separated around Montreal with all the maps in one car - of course.
We had a blast! We hit the pubs, went camping up in Cape Breton,
went sailing in Halifax Harbour, saw the sights and just generally
had a good time. The next week Leslie stopped in for a few days on her way to Newfoundland for a camping trip in Gross Morne National Park. We did some mountain biking and a little drinking. Another overlap here with David's Mom and Dad who came out for a short visit. We took in some of the usual tourist attractions including an afternoon of whale watching and a few trips to the casino. Next, Trudy was off to Toronto and Vancouver. She expected to be picked up at Pearson International by Jim, only to be surprised by everyone's favourite world traveller - Liane. After a few days in Toronto it was off to Vancouver for Heather and Ian's wedding (in Oliver, actually). Trudy, of course, managed to squeeze in some other assorted vacationing including a very quick trip out to Gabriola Island to see Zonya - |

| finally! A big thank you to Brenda and Trish for their hospitality.
On the Toronto-Halifax portion of her return flight, Trudy bumped
into a few of Liane's friends who informed her that Liane was
coming to Halifaxthe next day! Yes, Liane wanted to see David
(and her old friend Tim) while she was home from Korea, so she
flew out for about 30 hours or so! Once Liane was safely on her way back to Korea (barely, rumour has it that she nearly missed her flight), we had 2 or 3 days to rest up for the Mohrhardts. Jim, Doris, Curtis and Stefan came out for a little over a week. We played the entire time - it was wonderful. Highlights of this trip were a couple of days at the beach, a picnic at Point Pleasant Park and camping in the backyard (just like Arthur's sleepover for any of you well-versed in PBS children's programming). |

By this time David had already made his way to Toronto for both
the birth of our nephew, Leeor, and Jon and Deb's wedding. So
Trudy was on her own - for about half an hour! Just as she pulled
up after dropping the Mohrhardts off at the airport, the next
shift drove upTrudy wasn't even back in the house yet when Adrian
and Michele (former colleague at Crofton House) arrived. We had
a great long weekend together including an marvellous hike along
the coastline. So after Adrian and Michele headed home to Vancouver, Trudy, Bailey and Sheba were alone for nearly a week (a little longer than originally scheduled due to Leeor dragging his feet on the being born thing). Once David returned from Toronto, we had nearly 10 days before the next arrivals. |
