| These four little cuties are lucky enough to have an aunt and
uncle who don't yet have their own children and live far away.
So when we get to see our niece and nephews, they get presents
and tonnes of attention. Ariel turned 3 in November and she goes half-days to preschool. Leeor has just past 6 months and has been offered a Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford. Curtis just turned 5 in January and is attending Junior Kindergarten every morning. Stefan turns 3 this month and wishes he was attending Junior Kindergarten |
every morning! On our last trip to Toronto we organized a joint family outing to the Royal Ontario Museum. We were quite a gang with Pearl, Yorum, Ariel, Leeor, Jim, Doris, Curtis, Stefan, David and Trudy. It worked out perfectly. Pearl wasn't on time, however, instead she was 10 minutes early! We started with the whales and then moved upstairs. The kids loved the computer generated dinosaurs on the huge screen and everyone was scared in the bat cave. The mammal and bird sections were also |

| entertaining. After lunch we made giant puzzles, did arts and
crafts and dressed up in some whale costumes. All in all, it was a very successful excursion - nobody cried (except for Jim, because he's a baby), got sick or fell asleep (except for Leeor, because he's a baby). We plan to take the group to the Ontario Science Centre on our next visit to Toronto in April. |

| After four and a half good years, Trudy had to leave Crofton
House School. She finished at the end of January '97 - right after
exams and exactly halfway through the school year. It was hard
to leave such a good job and such good friends. Recent highlights include accompanying the volleyball team to San Diego in October '96. Another favourite trip (which |
we've written about before) was to Strathcona Park on central Vancouver Island. This week long Outdoor Education trip involved the entire grade 10 class (about 70 students) and Trudy was lucky enough to get to go four years in a row. Trudy also joined Bridget on two Outdoor Education mountain biking tripsone year to Manning Park in the interior and the next | year to the Sunshine Coast. Two more great trips. Trudy's real passion at the school was her position as the head basketball coach. Coaching is the aspect of her job that she misses the most. An unfortunate postscript to this story is that Trudy's replacement was too ill to take over her classes, so her students had an emergency substitute for the rest of the year. |
After thinking of her Mother every March when living in Vancouver, in 1996 Trudy finally figured out a way for Ivy to have a trip to Vancouver. Ivy's birthday is in March and March in Vancouver is a beautiful time with so many trees out in blossoms. Trudy flew Mom out to Vancouver and treated her to a four day whirlwind tour including a trip up to Whistler and | Pemberton. It was also a bit of a culinary tour and Trudy almost
killed her Mother with kindness. Not to worry though, it was nothing
that 6 months of an extremely low fat diet and a gall bladder
operation couldn't cure! The next Ivy trip was out to Halifax this summer and this time she brought her Aunt Ivy along with her. Who knows where this dynamic duo will be popping up next? |
